Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising, also known as the "Light of Nepal," ended the country's protracted load shedding. Back then, loadsharing was both a friend and a foe for Nepalese. Its removal was an impossible dream. But Kulman Ghising succeeded in turning that forlorn dream into reality. He broke up with us by imposing load shedding that lasted for hours. He is Nepal's unheralded national hero.

Kulman was able to eliminate the decades-long loadshedding despite the corrupt bureaucrats. If dependable officials like him had arrived earlier, this may have been over long ago.

Childhood upbringing and education:

Ghising led the Rautaghat Hydroelectricity Project as project head before being named managing director of NEA.

He has also served as the managing director of the NEA-funded Chilime Hydroproject. He has a significant role to play in making Chilme Hydroproject the nation's top power development firm.

With 22 years of experience in the hydropower industry, he has expert understanding of hydropower electricity transmission, generating, and distribution.

Within a month of his appointment as Managing Director, hours of load-shedding were immediately halted thanks to his ability to maximize the use of the available resource.

Ghising graduated from Ace Institute of Management with an MBA.

Additionally, he has a B.sc. in electrical engineering from an Indian university and a Masters in power system engineering from a Pulchowk engineering college.

Kulman Ghising Debate:

Kulman Ghising was accused of stealing money used to acquire LED bulbs from India. He held a press conference and refuted all of his claims with evidence. When he fought against the corrupt officials to halt load shedding in Nepal, he sobbed a little from being accused of wrongdoing. Ghising said that by lengthening the load shedding hours, he could have made millions of dollars while remaining silent.
