Sunapati hill, which lies to the west of Dongme village. There is a Hindu temple (Mahadev Temple) at the top of Sunapati Peak (7165 feet, 2184 m) and views in every direction with the Himalaya visible from Dhaulagiri to Rolwaling. The village of Lubughat and Nepalthok lies over 5000 feet (1500 m) below to the west along the banks of the Sun Koshi or Gold River. The shimmering, prominent river coming in from the west is the Roshi Khola, which joins with the Sun Koshi.Just below, between Sunapati Peak and the Sun Kosi, a U.N. helicopter crashed in March 2008 and all ten people aboard perished.

Sailung:“Sai-hundred, Lung-hills” land of hundred hills, Thulo Sailung is located at the height of 3,146m which is the best viewpoint for the Himalayan panoramas which is located in the border of Ramechhap and Dolakha but it is VDC of Ramechhap district. Sailung has been gaining popularity for trekking as the Indigenous trail; its unique landscape and amazing views allure most of the travellers. This trekking provides fantastic Himalayan panoramas views stretching from Dhauligiri and Annapurna in the West, Langtang Range, Ganesh Himal region & Rolwaling region. Almost 90% of mountains range can be seen from this place and this is another attraction of this place.

 

Sailung trekking is not only for Himalayan views, but it has very unique structure i.e. hundreds of dooms the hills where you feel like playing hide and seek. This place has its distinctive beauty in different seasons like in winter Sailung is covered with snows from mid-winter and spring is filled with Rhododendrons, and greener pastures leave you speechless remaining seasons. The trail is easily where everyone can easily complete and make beautiful memories. The road is gravel but if you are planning to travel by bike you can make it but it’s little difficult. But do not plan bike ride during snowfall and rainy season.

Sailung hill lies to the north-east part of the Kathmandu valley. ‘Sai’ means hundred and ‘Lung’ means the hills in the Nepali language. Because of the presence of hundreds of hill in this area, people started saying this trek as Sailung trekking. Sailung trekking reaches until Thulo (high) Sailung at the height of 3,150 m which is the best point to view long-range of snow-capped mountains, including the Mt. Everest.

There's also a song named "Mathi Mathi Sailunge Ma" by Kunti Moktan in the name of this place. 

Sailung trekking is one of the best trekkings to explore culture, tradition and the socio-economic life of rural people. Sailung is a cultural and natural adventure trekking in a less touristic destination where the culture and nature remain unspoiled. Sailung trek is rich in natural beauty, bio-diversity and mountain views. In this trekking, the tourists can observe Nepali people from different caste and ethnic background like Bramin, Chhetri, Gurung, Magar, Pahari, Maghhi, Sarki, Damai , Kami, Tamang and Sherpa.

The best time for Sailung trekking is February to May and August to November each year.
